2. Main rules

1. Consistency Primary rule: we are proud of our guild, do nothing that will lessen that. This applies to ANY actions that can be traced back to you as a guild member. Id est, be very careful with your name and guild tag when posting on public forums or other public places.

2. Politeness No cussing, bad language or whining, not in guild chat, not in private tells. If you have problems with this, do NOT join our guild. No fighting or constant negative attitude. Complaints about bad language will result in immediate removal. We do not care how much experience you have lost, how often you died and what items you destroyed. Take it like a man. You can express your disappointment about certain events in an adult way, but enough is enough.

If you are absolutely sure the person you're sending your private tells to does not mind, do it at your own risk. Don't tell us you didn't know that the charter does not allow this. If the person files a complaint, it will result in guild removal. You have been warned.

3. Self-reliance No begging or harassing others for "stuff", money or powerleveling (asking for buffs, rezzes, etcetera are expected and allowed, but if a person cannot help at the moment, do not harass. It's not reasonable to ask another to leave a group and travel to do a rez.)

4. Respect Be respectful and kind towards your guildees.

See your own faults in the comments you make on other people. - Maliz

5. Straight-forwardness Badmouthing the guild or the guild leadership will result in immediate removal. Honor your guild and be proud of it. If you have a problem with the leadership, do not take it up with other guild members. Take it up with the leadership.

6. Honesty In no way will you create an unfair advantage towards other players, whether it is by using third party plug-ins or by selling/buying in-game property for real cash. Note that it is perfectly acceptable to use add-ons for fair purposes, like parsing logs. Anybody who violates this rule will be removed from the guild permanently and immediately.

7. Integrity It is perfectly okay to let others play with your character, provided that

a) you take full responsibility
b) the player properly introduces himself to the guild when he logs on
c) the player properly introduces himself when he receives tells that are obviously not meant for him

If you don't follow one of these rules, the person in question must become a guild member.

It is not okay to grant guild forum access to non-guild members, for example by letting them use your account. Non-guild members may read the public forums only. This becomes especially an issue if a good friend of yours has quit or was removed from the guild. Granting forum access to non-guild members is a major offense and will result in immediate guild removal.

As long as you keep your relationships as superficial as possible and do not communicate, there isn't anything to fight about, but there isn't anything worth fighting for either. - Yomar

8. Activity If you are going to be away from the game, or are likely to significantly reduce your play times, please let us know. There is a sticky thread on the member’s forums for this purpose. Please give an estimate of the date you intend to return to the game. If you find that date approaching and still cannot play, you can always update us. We are very accommodating of most circumstances, but do ask that you are firm in your commitment to return to the guild and the game. For example, simply telling us “I’m bored with the game and am going to play Vanguard for a bit, but might be back” will probably result in removal from the guild.

During extended absences of greater than 4 weeks, your main character will be demoted to probationary status, but will have its original status returned once you start playing again.

If a guild member has not logged into the game an extended period and we have received no warning of their absence, they risk removal from the guild. After 6 weeks, an officer will attempt to contact a missing member (please try and keep the email address in your profile up to date). If nothing is heard after a further 2 weeks, that member will be demoted to probationary member and have their alts deguilded. After 12 weeks from the last login date, their main will be deguilded and access to the private guild forums will be revoked.

After such removal, re-admittance to the guild will be at the discretion of IC and HC and may require going through the induction process again. Multiple removals of this nature will almost certainly result in a permanent ban.

9. Involvement Be active. Communicate. There is no need to write books on our forums or in guild chat, but we do expect you to be actively involved in this guild. That goes further than just being at raids and saying hello. Offer your insights, give us your ideas, tell us a joke. Don't become an invisible ghost. This applies both to our forums and guild chat.

We are NOT your one-night stand. We are your friends. If you don't play, we MISS you. If you haven't played for several weeks, we get worried. So tell us about your real life plans and drop us a line once in a while. When members suddenly disappear without saying boo or bah, we even go as far as tracing your real life data and call you (it has happened). Not because you must stay, but because we want to know whether you are okay. Any friend would do that.

Unlike other larger guilds, you are someone here. You want to be anonymous? Go ahead. Leave. - Maliz

Leaving the guild
Sometimes a player will get upset over something that happened in the game. They may have lost their shard, got cheated out of a deal, lost something of value or even have had a bad day. Perhaps they died and no one was able to help them at that time. Or they talked about it in guild chat and no one responded. They then think that no one cares, and it has happened that they leave the guild or threaten to. First of all, it may be that no one saw or could help. That being said, we want to encourage members to be loyal to each other. To assume first that if no one can help, they really can't. To believe that no response does not mean you are being ignored. We feel that people leaving the guild or constantly threatening to promotes a disloyal attitude towards the guild as a whole. If something happens that a person does not like, quitting the guild or threatening to is not the answer.

Think about it. As we get bigger, people will leave for a variety of reasons. In order to prevent a revolving door policy, we ask that you think about it very carefully before leaving or threatening to leave. If you are upset, wait a few days and see if the issue is resolved. If you are having an issue with another member, try to work it out. If that fails, talk to the High Council if there is an issue. (We don't want tattling!)

Rule: if you leave the guild on your own accord (a so-called departure), expect to have to go through the complete induction process again should you decide to come back. If you are constantly threatening to leave the guild for whatever reason, the High Council may vote to remove you. We are really sorry to have to make this rule. If you have left the guild twice (two departures), normally you will not be allowed to join again. If you are allowed to rejoin our guild anyway, consider yourself really lucky.

Sometimes a player determines that his goals in this game do not meet the goals of the guild. We have no problem when this occurs. As long as separation is done in a professional manner, we will maintain good relations with our former members. We ask that members simply provide us with a going-away message in our forums so that we in turn can say our goodbyes. Make sure you finish unfinished projects first. Also, if you are an officer, please give the councils the opportunity to find a replacement.

Guild removals
A member will never be removed from the guild right away, no matter his/her behaviour - we always offer a second chance, by demoting said member to probationary member and talking things over. If the bad behaviour continues, or if said member refuses to communicate, he/she will be deguilded permanently.

Exceptions are situations in which deguilding is the only remaining choice, for example if a member continues harassing members in guild chat, or if said member constitutes a clear and present danger to the guild (for example: said member starts advertising for a new guild he/she will start, trying to take other members with him/her).

You don't have to be mad to join our guild, but it sure helps. - Uwen

Camps
1. If you see a camp is taken already (that means one, just one player is occupying the spot), negotiate. See if you can get in the group.
2. If the negotiations fail, leave. Feel free to offer your opinion politely, but then smile and walk away. If there is ANYTHING we can do to prevent quarrels or fights about camps, we will do it.
3. If you are camping the spot yourself, do whatever it takes to free up spots in your own groups, so that all who need the camp can join your group. Do this with whomever gets close - if your group is full, explain the situation right away, so that no misunderstandings can arise. Also watch /ooc for questions about camped spots and reply if necessary. Treat others as you wish to be treated yourself.

We want to avoid all accusations of camp-stealing, no matter how right we and how wrong the other may be.

If for some reason it turns out people are structurally camping a spot that they do not want to share even if this is possible, please contact the High Council. The above is of course no license to make a fool of us.

If someone steals your camp, contact High Council with evidence. We will contact the guild in question and blacklist them if necessary. Some guilds in Norrath think it's perfectly okay to just dive into your camp and steal it (first lock wins). We strongly disagree with this.

Forums
We communicate a lot through our online forums. We schedule and organize raids there, and we use them to disseminate information about the zones/mobs we will be raiding. We feel it unfair that we should take time out of the game to go over details that have already been discussed on the forums, so members/applicants are required to visit the boards often enough to know details of what we are doing.
