06-10-2008, 08:05: Pawbuster down!
It took us a few goes, but we got him eventually. Hurrah! The fight involved wall-to-wall chain curing, and thank you to our dedicated cure team who did a great job keeping MT and MA groups up and running. Edging the mob over the grate at the end of the fight took some practice, as did managing slow, steady damage to keep the mob's aggro firmly on the MT. Pawbuster's death has opened the way to T8.2 raiding, and there was a stampede to KJ after the raid to hand in the The Fate of Norrath for the next quest in line. Congratulations to all - it's great to see all the hard work and perseverance has paid off.

10-09-2008, 08:01: RIP The Sisters
I don't know if this lot have a proper name, but we killed them anyway last night in Shard of Hate. This was out first proper attempt (and I think only our second attempt in all) and they went down first try thanks to the excellent research and briefing from RC. They dropped a very nice Jewel of Animosity, a mega hate item, which was won by Kabom. Springy took home the Signet of Betrayal from Master P'Tasa, and Daco got a nice dangly earring. We then had a couple of gos at the Maestro, but gave up after a few attempts as we just weren't ready for him yet. We learned the hard way about his healer curse (eep).

Congratulations to Naldiane on his promotion to Raid Council, and our heartfelt thanks to Namian, who is stepping down from that position.

08-09-2008, 08:00: Cooking with gas
Last night we whizzed round Protector's Realm in about 1 hour 15 minutes, then charged off to Shard of Hate to clear trash and the easy nameds in preparation for Tuesday's raid. Even with less than a full raid, we bagged a pretty incredible 19 pieces of loot in all, including five masters. Well done all!

01-09-2008, 07:56: NEARLY 50K!
Last night, in Shard of Hate, our DPS fell shy of 50K by 100! With some changes to group setups (keep those suggestions coming in!), lots of concentration, and steady upgrades from all the farming, we're getting better and better. Though Master P'Tasa got the best of us again, we had a good run, took down two named, lots of trash, and netted nine nice pieces of loot. Grats on your masters Vag, Heavy and Zeska, and Fluff got a very nice earring which hasn't dropped before - the Stud of Blackest Obsidian. Finally, thanks to Dark for stepping in to set up the groups at the beginning of the raid, even though it was his night off.

13-08-2008, 08:06: MASTER P'TASA GOES DOWN (AGAIN)
In last night's Shard of Hate raid we took down the intensely irritating Master P'Tasa. Now this isn't the first time we've killed him, but it is the first time after 'the change', since when we've wiped endlessly to him. With everyone equipped to the nines with divine resist gear, an excellent pre-raid briefing from RC, and lots of focus, we took him down slow but sure, in the first take. I even went temporarily LD during the fight, came back still grouped, and was able to get straight back in there. In fact, it was a good run all round, with no wipes, and eight nice pieces of loot, including the awesome Ethereal Mist Gauntlets (grats Yalom) with their holy water sprinkler (!) proc.

21-05-2008, 08:03: DING DONG, THE EVIL WITCH IS DEAD!
Yes, yes, YES - At last we took down Mayong Mistmoore, and cleared the Mistmoore Inner Sanctum. Not much to add here apart from the raid went fast and smoothly, with only one hiccup as someone stumbled going up the final steps in Mayong's room, and the raid almost wiped. Mayong had been secreting a huge chest full of goodies, including his infamous cloak. I thought this would look lovely in my basket, but it now graces Ddread's shoulders, after a bidding war that made the loot officer break out in a sweat. Mayong's death meant that everyone on the raid was able to upgrade their lucanic weapon to a somewhat more spiffy version - huzzah!

14-05-2008, 19:13: SHARD OF HATE, BONJOUR!
Last night we gathered up the boys (they do like a good whipping) and headed off to a new zone, the Shard of Hate. This is a rather depressing-looking built-up area accessed from the back end of Nek Forest. The trash mobs were pretty easy to clear, and netted us two nice Templar masters. After grabbing a quest from a skeletal mender, we wandered off to find three named mobs to kill. And - hurrah! - we vanquished them all, though the last one, Master T'Pau (not his proper name, but my notes are at home) was a very long fight, as he had a zillion hit points. Each named only dropped one piece of loot, but they were all good quality stuff (M&S, probably). Fluff got a nice caster symbol, Naldiane got a spiffy shield, and Zeska got an awesome ring with so many properties it would take a page of A4 paper to write them all down. Well done all - a great debut to the zone!

05-05-2008, 09:34: TOMB OF THUUGA CLEARED
Well, we had a great raid last night. Wonderful to have such a high signup - more than we could accommodate in fact, so we were able to adjust quickly when one raider went LD and couldn't get back in. Naldiane was our MT, and the spider queen went down on the second attempt, leaving some yucky goo, two nice pieces of healer loot, and a thingy (which we need for VS). Just Pawbuster to go and we'll be into the next set of T8 raid zones.

28-04-2008, 08:15: PROTECTOR'S REALM CLEARED
Last night we cleared Protector's Realm for the first time... in record time, and with only a couple of wipes. Fourteen pieces of loot - lots of caster gear, and even some nice booties for Brenneth the wonder cleric. Thanks again to Guilt for coming to help.

22-04-2008, 08:09: DOOMCOIL FALLS/DING 73!
We had a good night on Sunday. Thanks to the efforts of all our writters, the guild dinged 73.
But what about Protector's Realm, you are all asking? True, this played a part too. Despite a slightly shaky start, with a few no-shows, we managed to fill out our raid force, and off we headed to the Fens... Until we remembered (ahem) the zone we wanted was in Seb. We got through the four skeletons with just one wipe, then went on towards Doomcoil - and down he went too! Buoyed up by our success, we trotted round the corner to tackle the group of people who'd betrayed us. They put up a good fight (boy, was it a long one) but finally we got them. So, two first kills, and nine pieces of sparkly T8 loot, including the coveted Betrayal's Song (grats Zeska). Thanks muchly to our guest raider Guilt, and to Havak and Missmia for helping us out by two-boxing.

17-03-2008, 00:13: PROTECTOR'S REALM NOT PROTECTED ENOUGH?
Tonight FM tried a new T8 zone, the Protector's Realm. This is a raid version of CoA, and accessed through the same doorway - the cunning plan to hide it from us wasn't cunning enough. Despite a less than perfect raid force (luckily I ran out of sherry fairly early on) we took down all four of the skeletons, for 7 nice pieces of T8 loot. Doomcoil proved rather more resistant to our efforts, though we got him down to 65%. We then attempted the treacherous lot who set him on us in the first place, but they were all a bit too frisky for us, so after two attempts we decided to call it a day. Thanks to everyone who came, and you all get 16DKP FKB for the 4 named skellies.

05-03-2008, 00:20: JUST WUOSHI LEFT
We had another great run on Emerald Halls tonight. Three new nameds were taken down on the 2nd and 3rd floors - Gardener Thirgen, the Herald of Wuoshi and Treah Greenroot. Wuoshi wanted to party too, and attacked us randomly a couple of times for no apparent reason at all (Xevii I won't mention your name here). By the time we had fought our way through hundreds of trash mobs (well, that's what it felt like) we only had time for two attempts on Wuoshi herself. Let's just say that the second attempt went much better than the first, and we learned a lot just from these two fights. Raiders are invited to sign up NOW for an emergency 'Kill the dragon' raid this Thursday. Places are limited, so don't get left on the subs bench - sign up now for a place in guild history.

30-01-2008, 15:08: T8 RAIDING HERE WE COME
Last night we tried T8 raiding for the first time with a visit to the Tomb of Thuuga. This zone is reached from the river under the Span in Fens of Nathsar. I don't know if there is a safe way to get there, but when did FM do safe? We plummeted lemming-like over the cliff to get down to the water level, paused to rezz Detje, then headed into the tomb. The tomb was pretty - well - tomby, with spiders and zombies. Soon we were facing the first named, a large spider queen. This proved to be an interesting fight, as she cocoons random people, and releases a whole horde of baby spiders when she gets down to about 40%. Several times we got her down to a smidgeon of red, but each time the adds overwhelmed us at the last moment. It was a great first attempt, and I for one can't wait to go back there, sort out the spider queen, and see what's next!

28-01-2008, 09:48: HELLO MAYONG!
Yesterday evening, despite unexpected gnome loss (Ithile - how could you FORGET?) we positively stormed through MMIS, leaving a trail of dead named in our wake, and netting seven nice pieces of loot. Then we got to Mayong Mistmoore's room. Like all evil geniuses, he had an impressive lair, with a massive staircase, some ugly goons, and some courtesans. We sneaked up the side of the staircase (so many steps for a halfling!) - lucky for us he doesn't have good peripheral vision. Then we died quite a lot, which is only to be expected the first time you try a named like this, but we know more about this encounter now, and we'll be back!

23-01-2008, 08:17: WE GO TO THE THRONE ROOM
In a world first, FM visited the Throne Room of New Tunaria, an instanced raid zone in (you guessed it) New Tunaria. The elves had been getting uppity, and it was time to send in the cavalry... and indeed anyone else we found bimbling about. This proved to be an annoying and a buggy zone, and we lost our good luck charm Mablung (aka 'Mr Naked') just zoning in. We got as far as the bottom of the stairs, but had to give up on the Queen as Ddread kept getting charmed and killing all the healers and the pallies (at least, that was HIS excuse). We learned a lot on our first visit. The mobs are tricky to pull, and constant cures are a must. On the plus side, though, grats to Jannus on his spiffy new Cloak of Woven Leaves, which we managed to wrest from the bleeding corpse of the Harbinger of Absolution.

09-01-2008, 07:58: BYE BYE EARTH RUMBLER, BYE BYE
Last night, in an FM first, the Earth Rumbler hit the dirt (pun very much intended). After a hard battle, and lots of deaths (best way - hem hem) we finally put an end to its reign of terror on the not-so-innocent denizens of Emerald Halls. Not much loot this trip, due to all the ant-counting, but grats to Graal on his Calcified bone spaulders, and Jannus on his Thorn-wrapped bindings (from Prince Thirneg). Thanks for coming, everyone!

28-11-2007, 00:24: MORE FUN IN MMIS - D'LIZTA CHEROON DOWN
With a full raid force and high hopes we set out yet again to the murky depths of MMIS. What with the excitement of RoK, we hadn't raided for a bit, but those extra levels certainly helped. We got further in than I've ever been before, and took down D'Lizta Cheroon for the first time. This was Bowein's first time raiding with us, and he took the wipes like a man. Thanks too to Zeska who did the loot, and I'm sure he'll be getting more involved helping RC in the very near future. Grats to Detje who got two nice pieces of loot - Cowl and Gloves of the Illusory Vexation, and Havak who got Bracers of the Outrider (all class-specific loot). Oh, and Helikaon got a new bracelet :-)

07-11-2007, 08:22: RETURN TO MMIS, VAMPIRE IN SHOCK DEATH!
Yesterday evening, we returned to MMIS. We haven't been there for a few weeks, so, expecting the worst, our raiders came laden with repair kits, potions, spare armour and the ever-trusty repair bot (courtesy of Dd). But all those wipes (ah, sorry, 'learning experiences') were not in vain. We took down two named, the vampire D'Lizta Viswin for the second time (and not the first time, as previously stated - bah). Three new pieces of loot - Pauldrons and Gauntlets of Divination for Namian, and a Vampiric Axe of Balance for Ddread. Saluete!

03-10-2007, 08:11: SARIK THE FANG DEAD
On our return return trip to Emerald Halls, we finally took down the large wolf, Sarik the Fang. It did take a lot of practice, but we got there in the end! Again, thanks not only to the FM guildies, but also to our regular raiding guests - it's a pleasure guys (and girls).

19-09-2007, 08:18: RETURN TO EMERALD HALLS
Last night we returned to Emerald Halls, and did much better than our first time there! Even though we weren't quite a full raid, we made good progress round the first floor, working our way through the trash mobs. Xevii wins a Blue Peter badge for winning the challenge, and we took down our first named, the Mistress of the Veil. Grats to Catkin (me) on Blessed Direwood Wristguards, and Ligtorn on his Fae Wing Cloak. We also netted a Seed of Growth, which I have planted in a 2 1/2" plant pot, and we'll see what comes up!

And a booby prize for Twisty for being so geographically challenged that he couldn't find the zone entrance (let alone Lesser Faydark!) after at least half an hour trying. Twisty, we need to work on those map-reading skills :-)

10-09-2007, 15:31: PALLY TEST DRIVE
Last night, we test drove Graal as MT in the Labs. Backed by a full raid (thanks to our wonderful guest raiders) we pretty much trashed the zone. In fact, the only thing that slowed us down was the non-stop metal chests - over 20 - which was a ridiculous amount. Much phat lewt was had by all, and a few unwanted items got transmuted. Well done, Graal, and grats all on the great loot and the fun time!

07-08-2007, 23:32: V'Comte D'Raethe gets a Nasty Surprise
This is an epic mob that lurks in Castle Mistmoore. It took a couple of goes (and a few deaths) to work out the best way to pull, but finally we got him. After looting a nice Ring of Haunted Visions (grats Farned), our mini raid force charged round the rest of the castle, hunting for nameds. Luckily the Sage was up, and grats to Tomari on her new Wildfire leggings!

07-08-2007, 21:10: FM IN CRAB SHOCK!
On Tuesday 7th August (a night which will for ever be known as 'Crab Night') a hand-picked team finally took down the Crab for the first time. Obeying Ddread's Cunning Plan (which involved tying Ithile's hands behind his back) we gave the brute a good trouncing, so it's crabsticks all round for the rest of the month!

13-06-2007, 08:37: OUR FIRST TRIP TO EMERALD HALLS
I was expecting a dungeon zone, to be honest, so I was a bit surprised when it turned out to be like a cross between Gfay and Lfay - very pastoral. We found some interesting trash mobs, which put our mezzing skills to the test, worked our way to the back of the zone, then sent a sacrificial lizard up for a look round. We spotted a group of mushroom men, and a large wolf wandering round. Feeling as if we needed more of a challenge than giant crocs and pesky fairies, we decided to tackle the wolf. On our third attempt, and having refined our strategy, we got him down to 4%... and probably would have killed him had we not lost a couple of people due to death and the LD monster. All in all, a great first attempt, and we shall return!

21-05-2007, 14:17: XUX'LIAO BARBECUED
Not sure that's quite how you spell it, but he's a big birdy thing with two sets of wings. Or was, before our day-trip to his roost last Saturday. (Ithile - take note of the spelling!) Led by the fearless Hal, and heckled into order by Albie, a mixed force of raiders from FM and BL entered Xux'liao's roost and wandered about killing stuff until we reached the open bit at the end where the named lives. The fight was a fun one, with comedy knockbacks a go go, and adds galore, but eventually we did it, and this evil bird will menace travellers no more.

Emboldened by our success, we then tackled the crab, but he proved too orangey for crows, and we were sent packing. Oh well. Still, plenty of Xux'liao kebabs for the guild barbecue!

18-05-2007, 08:31: OUR FIRST TRIP TO MISTMOORE INNER SANCTUM
Last night, we made our first trip to the bowels of Mistmoore Castle. This is a nasty place, full of nasty things, and no coffee shops, as I had been promised. <mutter>

Having only four legs, I wasn't able to see much except Dark's heroic rear, specially when we were all bunched together in corners.

We did die a lot though. Boy, did we die a lot. Still, it was fun, and our mood was optimistic as we battled our way up stairs, round corridors, and through doors.

We killed three named mobs - Enynti, D'Lizta Viswin and V'Tekla K'Zalk - and got two gorgeous <drool drool> bits of armour, and a nice bangle.

Keep working on vampire L&L folks - you know it makes sense!

11-05-2007, 08:16: CRUOR DOWN, DEATHTOLL CLEARED
In a truly memorable night for raiding, last night we stormed through Deathtoll, and finally - finally - killed Cruor Alluviam. This enormous flying, flattened water leech thingy has long been resisting our attempts to get rid of it, mainly due to the fact that if you wipe, it's virtually impossible to rezz. Last night we jacked up our poison resists to the max, made sure the wardens had Solar Flame (app IV), forcefed Hal with raw steak, and made Mal drink 15 pints of strong coffee. With cries of 'What ho!' we leapt into the water and within minutes poor old Cruor was splattered all over the floor of his watery grotto.

Deathtoll cleared. Saluete!

04-04-2007, 08:08: VENEKOR - IN MEMORIAM
Last night's raid passed in a bit of a blur, and I spent quite a bit of time lying on the floor counting ants. There's more ants than you might expect in Halls of Seeing - little black ones. The main thing to remember in this zone is not to touch anything suspicious - a hard job considering what some our raid force look like, and the close quarters we were required to fight in. After a lot of dying (on our part and the mobs') we finally reached the very bottomest bit, where Venekor lives. It would appear that this grouchy old beast doesn't like visitors, and he (she?) managed to wipe out our raid force two times before we got the better of him (her?) with a smooth, flawless kill. Another first for FM, and hello mender my old friend!

16-03-2007, 16:19: POP GOES THE WEASEL
Well, the Amorphous Drake, to be more exact. A strange beast that lurks in Deathtoll, jumping on unuspecting passers-by and stealing their dinner money. This blobby thing lives in a well, and can be tempted out with pointy sticks. At 50%, it splits into two drakes, which must each be tanked individually. After two tries, we refined our strategy and kill the brutes, for another FM first. Oh, and we killed Tarinax too, just because we could, and he looked shifty. Cruor, you're next on our list.

Saluete!

14-03-2007, 09:57: VILUCIDAE FEELS THE WEIGHT OF EU LEGISLATION
While I was out on an important after-hours business meeting with my colleagues (mm that ice-cream toffee sundae was good) FM's raiding force was killing dragons and other fell beasts. One fell beast that has proved a thorn in our side for a long time is Vilucidae, him of the twiddly tentacles who lives in a great big pissoire at the bottom of the Lyceum. And hurrah, we finally took him down for the first time! It also proved to be a loot night beyond compare, with masters and sparkly things falling like mana from the heavens. And I wasn't there - bah...

09-03-2007, 08:40: PAIN AND SUFFERING ARE NO MORE
In our second trip to Halls of Seeing, we got much deeper into the zone, past lots of nameds (which didn't have very memorable names) to Pain and Suffering. These don't become attackable until you've got deep enough into the zone to activate them. Bravely forcing Hal ahead, we despatched them in short order, and got some nice loot. Huge amounts of SP and AA were earned during the trip, and we were also able to introduce our new Dirge Deeben to the joys of raiding with FM. In fact, I saw him dead on the ground many times along with all the rest of us :-)

05-03-2007, 15:18: FREETHINKER HIDEOUT
Boldly going where no man has gone before (and maybe no woman) we sharpened our weapons, mended our armour, polished our fingernails, and headed off for some fun in Freethinkers Hideout. This zone proved tricky to get to for short folk, who like myself struggled to clamber over the rocky shortcut over the wall.

This was very much a learning curve expedition, so we were all overjoyed (and actually rather surprised!) when we took down the first named on the second attempt. On we headed, down down deeper and down, to the second named. Unfortunately this one proved a little more resistant to our raid force, so after a few wipes we took the honourable option and said our farewells.

We will return!

23-02-2007, 13:56: OUR FIRST VISIT TO THE CLOCKWORK MENACE FACTORY
And a right menace it was too. And yes we did find some named mobs, but they proved a bit too frisky, and the raid force was reduced to quivering splots of red mush on the ground several times in succession. Still, we gained some useful knowledge about the zone, which will come in handy next time we visit. Out of interest, here's a photo of a menacing-looking mob we founding lurking at the back of the zone.

07-02-2007, 09:00: BAD HAIR DAY FOR GORENAIRE
Poor Gorenaire. She'd just settled down for a girl's night in with a big box of chocs and a DVD*, when she hears someone at the front door. She didn't order pizza, and it's not Valentine's Day yet - who could it be? 'Hello! My name's Halbarad, and I've come to check your - er - gas meter!'

Anyway, to cut a short story short, poor old Gorenaire never stood a chance, and within less than an hour, we were in proud possession of some choice items of loot (OK, apart from the nifty handbag I forgot what they were) and a rather smelly dragon carcase.

With barely a gnome sacrificed, we headed off to Lyceum for a quick round of named killing, which netted us two relic chest pieces, a lovely souvenir mug (grats Yalom), and some masters.

Fabulae Marrii has now killed all four dragons for Deathtoll access, which means we have two people flagged, with more on the way as we start a round of backflagging.

31-01-2007, 08:11: FABULAE MARRII IN DEATHTOLL!
Clutching our newly made resist gear (thanks, Zeska!) the FM raid force headed off to Deathtoll last night. This was the guild's first official trip to the zone, though a few hardy souls had had the odd trip there before. We were all introduced first-hand to the many delights of the zone (invisible gazers, worm and flame traps, etc) and much rezzing was done. Dark was on trap detection duty (can't have done his armour much good), with Hal as our MT, and Albie as our expert guide. We managed to get half way through the zone - a great first attempt - and despatched two named - Yitzik the Hurler and a rather bad-tempered gnome called Fitzpitzle (does anyone believe Havak's excuse that he couldn't make the raid due to a 'late train'?).

The flaming blobs were kept under control, and on our second attempt we were victorious. Loot included Talendor's Talisman, and a Dragonhide Bag (very fashionable).

After lots of hugs, tears, and cries of 'Does my bum look big in this?' we all grouped together and spent a happy evening laying waste to hordes of low level monsters on the island, then Oakmyst Forest (note 3). 13-11-2006, 12:30: THE GODKING IS HISTORY
Another landmark in the guild's history, Fabulae Marrii finally take down the Godking! As anyone who has done the Peacock quests knows, this event takes hundreds of hours of questing, not to mention endless camping for eyes in the Silent City epic arena. In the event, the Godking went down pretty fast (once a few lucky gnomes had been sacrificed) leaving us a scant thirty minutes to get as many raiders and alts as possible their Prismatic 2 and Vessel of Fyr'Un updates. Sadly we ran out of time eventually, but the good news is we already have a number of spare eyes in the bank, so if we can just all bear to do some more eye farming, we can arrange a second attempt for everyone who didn't get their update the first time.

28-10-2006, 05:57: FUN IN THE LABS

Having put the fear of god into the Doom Triad, Fabulae Marrii are getting deeper and deeper into the Labs. Indeed, we took a wrong turning in one of our latest attempts and found Lord Vyemm! Sadly, this was where the party stopped (not for him, but for us) as he gobbled us up and spat us out, but it's fantastic to know we know have knowledge and the power to get right down to the bottom of the zone now. Although drops have generally been disappointing, our last venture into the Labs netted us a staggering amount of loot, and five relic pieces, which more than made up for the mobs' stingyness on previous occasions.

Thursday's raid saw us tear through the Courts of El'Afaz, faster than ever before. With a full raid force, and good mix of healers and DPS, we were on a roll. Heaps of frogs marked our progress from named to named, and tower to tower. And, yes, finally we did it - we conquered the Fire Witch/Black Queen encounter, meaning that for the first time ever Fabulae Marrii has cleared the Courts. Saluete!
