Guild History

Legends of Marr (The Rathe) - 1998
Three members of the Legends of Marr guild on EverQuest I's Rathe server were dissatisfied with the way the leadership of the guild divided loot to guild members and decided to set up their own guild at the Zebuxurok server of the same game. These three members were Aurreal, Jezebelle and Lithel, the latter of whom would become the leader of Legends of Marr on the Zebuxurok server. Other members of this guild were Estari, Elendyl and Uwen.

Legends of Marr (Zebuxurok) - 1998-2001
Under the wise leadership of Lithel, Estari performed several duties in the Raid Council, while Uwen enjoyed his time as a normal guild member. Legends of Marr prospered and went its own way. At the beginning of 2001, the guild was joined by Yomar, who quickly won Lithel's trust and worked his way up to the guild's High Council within 3 months.

Aurreal, Jezebelle and Lithel were quite busy with their real lives, and the guild went through turbulent times while Yomar and his newly found partners in High Council, Hybren and Adon, watched the guild grow. Here they faced one major guild crisis, the Oroz incident, which they were fortunately able to solve.

No matter the friendship between the High Council members, it cannot be denied that eventually two factions evolved, with the old members (Lithel, Aurreal and Jezebelle) on one side and the newer members (Yomar, Hybren and Adon) on the other side. When Adon was forced to step down after the so-called Adon incident, the balance between these factions was lost. Eventually, different insights in the way the charter's rules were applied led to Yomar's and Hybren's departure from the guild in October 2001. Aurreal and Jezebelle left the guild not long after that and Lithel demoted himself to a normal guild member, since he did not have time anymore to run the guild's affairs.

The last era of Legends of Marr (Zebuxurok) had begun. A relatively new member, Halbarad, took over the Raid Council. It was this experience that would turn him into a very strong raid leader, something the guild would benefit from for years to come. Tinfist also joined Legends of Marr. Estari and Halbarad led Legends of Marr during its last days, but when one of the members dragged half of the guild with him while trying to set up another short-lived guild, Legends of Marr crumbled down. Meanwhile, Hybren had found another guild in EverQuest I, and our ways separated.

Omnipotence - 2001
Yomar left EverQuest I but was still greatly inspired by Legends of Marr's guild charter. Together with Estari and Elendyl, another former member of Legends of Marr (Zebuxurok), he set up a guild in Anarchy Online, which was eventually abandonded after a failed experiment with democracy. It was then when Yomar realized that full democracy in a guild would never work, as the different views would steer the guild in all directions, resulting in inconsistent policies and long-term targets.

Legends of Camelot - 2002-2004
Yomar and Elendyl set up a new guild in Dark Age of Camelot, while waiting for the release of EverQuest II. Soon they were joined by Estari and Uwen. In Dark Age of Camelot the guild found several strong council members, amongst which Greldar (HC), Bedarra (HC), Maliz (HC), Plomien (IC), Krasha (IC) and Tinfist (LC). The Raid Council was led by Halbarad, as usual. Yomar had learned from his experiences in the past and changed the guild into a geritocracy - a guild led by 'wise' council members. Members were still encouraged to provide input and feedback, but the ultimate decision always rested with the councils. The guild had also learned from its experiences on Zebuxurok: the charter was enforced strictly and consistently now, the same rules applying to all members.

The guild clearly prospered under this new policy. In October 2002 the guild faced a huge crisis, when one member looking for a more raid-oriented guild left Legends of Camelot taking at least 8 other members with him. Although Elendyl left the guild shortly after, Legends of Camelot survived where Legends of Marr (Zebuxurok) had failed: the guild's core had become strong enough to survive guild walkouts. This crisis would later be referred to as the Giriam incident. Lithel joined our guild for a short while, but it turned out once more that he had far too little time to focus on the guild. He left our guild silently, to be heard from never again. And so Legends of Marr as we know it lost its founding member for good. Maliz left not much later, because the game was putting too much strain on his real life.

The Asheron's Call 2 experiment - 2003
Frustrated by the limited possibilities of Dark Age of Camelot, several members, amongst which Yomar, Greldar, Estari and Uwen, set up a very short-lived sister guild in Asheron's Call 2. The guild never came any further than reconaissance missions, as after a few weeks it became clear the game's possibilities were far too limited (at that moment). Even after their return to Dark Age of Camelot though, it was obvious that some members in the guild needed a new fresh game. The waiting had begun, and this would sometimes cause friction between members who still liked Dark Age of Camelot and members who had grown tired of the game. However, the bonds and friendships that had formed in the guild were strong enough to survive this phase.

Fabulae Marrii - 2004
With the pending release of EverQuest II coming closer and closer, some members grew more and more impatient with Dark Age of Camelot. Yomar, Greldar, Bedarra, Krasha, Estari, Uwen, Halbarad and Tinfist once more left Dark Age of Camelot to start up Fabulae Marrii in EverQuest Live, relive the old days of Legends of Marr (Zebuxurok) and prepare themselves for EverQuest II, testing out several raid and loot distribution systems. We had a short but great time here and learned a lot from this. The guild was now set and ready for EverQuest II.

The Last Days of Legends of Camelot - 2004
Meanwhile, Plomien continued to lead our sister guild in Legends of Camelot to many victories. However, more and more members grew tired of the game and gradually the activity in game decreased. A few members are still playing Dark Age of Camelot, but most of our members are impatiently waiting for the release of EverQuest II.
